Summer Camp Theme Descriptions

Great Chef

From pancakes to pizza, we’ll explore fabulous flavors and fascinating facts about foods this week! We’ll learn what happens when we mix ingredients together in a recipe and what happens when we leave ingredients out. What happens when we cool things down and when we heat things up? There’s so much to discover as we play, cook and eat!

Super Hero Academy

This week we will learn about what makes all heroes special— both big and small! We will discuss fantasy heroes as well as our everyday heroes in the community. We will learn the science behind super powers and how we can do good in our communities by being our super selves!

Animals We Love

Join us for a special week learning about animals from all over the world! From safaris, the rainforest, farms, and the pets we may have at home, we’ll learn about animals in their various habitats. We will also learn about veterinarians and how they help the animals we all love so much!

Under the Sea

This week is all about sea life! Take a dive into the ocean and learn why it’s so important. Together, we’ll discover what is at the bottom of the sea and how many teeth are in a shark’s smile. Take an up close look at sea life as we travel to the Florida Aquarium and create water-themed art!

Out of This World

Join us for a week in space as we blast off into the solar system; investigating where astronauts work and using light to make our very own constellations. We will learn about the solar system, space shuttles, and experiment with gravity during our egg drop contest!

Five Senses

We will use our five senses to explore various art and science activities. Join us as we celebrate one sense per day and test our campers through child-friendly “fear factor” type challenges.

Secret Spy School

Campers will play detective, experiment with secret message writing and learn about spies, investigators and the Secret Service. We’ll learn how to dust for fingerprints, make puzzles, and solve mysteries in the museum!

Dino Dig

Join us for a week of education and fun as we discover types of dinosaurs and the differences between them. Children will have the opportunity to make their own fossils, practice their excavating skills and discover the differences between a paleontologist, an archaeologist and a geologist! We will also discover the prehistoric creatures who lived right here in Florida!

Game Time

Who doesn’t love games? This week we will explore various sports games, board games, and the games played in countries around the world. We will learn how to work as a team and have fun while working together. Our kids in rising first through third grade will get to visit our local baseball team, the Rays!

Build It

After learning how museum exhibits are made from the Great Explorations Exhibits Team, campers will use architectural blueprints to design their own museum exhibit. Spend the week creating with Legos, blocks and other building materials. Science and art will collide as we build catapults and more!

Camp Scholarship!

We are proud to offer a limited number of summer camp scholarships, reducing the cost of care to qualifying families in our community. Scholarships are awarded based on need and in order of application submission. Summer camp scholarships for 2020 are made possible by the White Family Foundation.
