PRESCHOOL FAQ

A hands-on approach to learning not only stimulates creative problem-solving but also supports practical real-life solutions. This form of self-expression allows children the ability to reach their full potential. At Early Explorations Preschool, we spark inspiring play to set forth a blaze of creative individualism.

We like to redirect. We do not punish, sometimes we need to take a minute and sit together and once we feel better we discuss what happened and why that wasn’t a good choice.

In our two’s class we work with the child and parents to assist in potty-training. We do require your child to be fully potty-trained before they move up to the 3-year-old class. This means that they don’t wear pull-ups at all during the day and they can wipe on their own. A three-year-old that is not potty-trained will have to continue paying the two-year-old rate until they are fully potty-trained and can move to the three-year-old class.

All of our teachers are required to become CPR-First aid trained within their first year with us.

We are considered an urban preschool; we do not have a playground for the children to go outside to play. We do go on a daily walk through Sunken Gardens, weather permitting.

We use the creative curriculum.

Sometimes we watch videos on our tablets as a “field trip” but it is never more than two minutes for our two year olds, three minutes for three year olds, etc.

Meals are not provided. The parent provides two snacks, a lunch and a reusable water bottle daily. The whole school is NUT FREE. We do not have heating or cooling capabilities so ice packs and thermoses are recommended.

We nap from 12:30-2:30 and you will need to provide a cot sheet & blanket. Amazon has some pretty cool nap mats that have a pillow and blanket stitched to them and hook right onto the cot legs.

We have brought gymnastics in, in the past. We are hoping to bring in more outside activities this coming year. Some of our teachers have been teaching sign-language as well.

Our classroom doors are always locked. Each classroom has a phone in their classroom, when parents arrive they have to check in with the gift shop and call their classroom to let them know they are here to pick up and we let them in. No one is ever able to go into a classroom if we do not know them. We ID anyone that we do not know.

Drop off is as early as 7:30 am and pick-up is as late as 5:30 pm. We do require all students to be dropped off by 9 am. We require a doctor’s note if they are going to be coming in late. There is a $5 per minute fee per child for pick-ups starting at 5:31 pm. Tuition is $775 for Two year olds, $725 for Three & Four year olds, $550 for VPK wrap-around care. VPK is free from 9 am- 12 pm with a VPK voucher.
