Traveling Planetarium

Welcome to the Great Explorations Children's Museum Traveling Planetarium, where the wonders of the universe come to life! As a leading institution dedicated to inspiring young minds through interactive and educational exhibits, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our state-of-the-art portable planetariums.

Our portable planetariums are designed to be flexible and mobile, bringing the awe-inspiring beauty of the cosmos to diverse communities across Pinellas County. Through carefully crafted programming, we provide educational outreach to schools, libraries, community centers, and other various organizations. Our goal is to ensure that children from all backgrounds have the opportunity to embark on an enthralling voyage through space, cultivating a lifelong love for astronomy.
Trained educators will deliver interactive presentations, blending captivating visuals, engaging storytelling, and age-appropriate scientific explanations. As they show the sky above and remove light pollution and the atmosphere, guests will witness the breathtaking beauty of the stars and constellations currently looking down on us, before exploring the planets in our solar system and possibly even distant galaxies.
Our Traveling Planetarium comprises two portable domes, measuring 20 feet and 13 feet in diameter. The larger dome can accommodate up to 25 individuals, while the smaller dome can seat 15. To keep our domes and your guests clean, the domes may only be set up indoors. We require a minimum ceiling clearance of 14 feet and a room size of at least 24 ft by 24 ft. Gyms, libraries, and media centers work well, though any sufficiently large space will be suitable. Both domes are equipped with full 4K digital projection capabilities, providing a visually stunning and immersive experience.
