Exploring the Rainbow – A Member-Only Event
Member-only Event | June 12th | 5pm–7pm
Come explore the colors of the rainbow with us! This member-only event does have limited availability and registration is required.
From rainbow coin toss to giant twister, we’ll be doing all sorts of fun activities! Members can enjoy the fun activities planned as well as free play in our museum.

Blue Star Families
This year we’ve teamed up with Blue Star Families to offer a special limited-time deal for active military families. All families enrolled in the Blue Star Families program will receive free admission at Great Explorations until 9/5/2022!
Blue Star Museums is a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families, in collaboration with the Department of Defense and museums across America, offering free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve.

Morris’ Tot Spot
This free pioneer program is designed for those summer toddlers that want to have fun and learn! An extension of our Terrific Tots program, children ages 1-3 and their families are welcome to join us for 6 sessions (June 2nd–July 7th) of developmental learning at Crescent Lake Park throughout the first part of the summer.
Each session will cover different themes that include baking, the circus, and a safari adventure. While this program is open and free to everyone, reservation is required and space is limited, so book your spot here!
Peek into Learning with Planet Peek-A-Boo
Learn something interesting and fun with Planet Peek-A-Boo. Lillaquin & the Boogie Woogie Wizard, Sparkalee, from the Children’s Learning/Entertainment show Planet Peek-A-Boo, will be at the museum on Monday, June 6th, at 11am to take us on an imaginary adventure! Don’t miss out on their story-time, singing bowls, and dance parties!
This event is included with regular admission into the museum.
Morris Workshop – All About Animals
June 18th | 2pm
We are excited to welcome back Dr. Learning and his team from Bayshore Animal Hospital and Avian Practice to lead an in-depth workshop on animals of all types, from dogs to ducks. As an exotic animal veterinarian, Dr. Learning will be sharing his knowledge about being a vet and the wonderful world of animals! This free family workshop is ideal for families with older elementary students with a love for animals and nature. Space is limited so please join us for this fun event by registering ahead of time here.
Great Connections
June 12th | 10am–12pm
On the second Sunday of every month, Great Explorations Children’s Museum will close to the general public from 10 am-12 pm and open for families with special needs to come and enjoy Great Connections, a sensory-friendly event. Great Explorations will modify lights, sounds, and provide a “cool down” room for families who need to take a break.
Each month, the program will offer new stimulating activities and themes for everyone to enjoy. This month is focused on Father’s Day. Connect with your family, with other families, and with resources in the community during Great Connections. Stay up to date with Great Connections here.

Theme Day – Colors of Kindness
