    Space Exploration Day

    Journey through the universe with us while we explore the night sky! In our planetarium, kids will travel through a world of knowledge that includes astronomy, geology, physical geography, and more. This all-day event is available at no additional charge to regular and member admission.

    Morris Workshop – STEMtacular

    Join members of the Great Explorations staff to explore the wonderful world of STEM! Thanks to Suncoast Credit Union, this is a free family workshop! STEMtacular is geared towards elementary students grades 3rd through 6th and will provide students with the opportunity to try robotics and engineering activities that include coding, building, and design. Space is limited so reserve your spot here!

    Night of the Nerds Fundraiser

    Calling all young nerds! Come join us at Great Explorations for a fun night of adventures and games with your families. We are putting on a special event after hours, just for you. If you play Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons, and all things nerd, this is the event you don’t want to miss. Kids can enjoy games set up around the museum and you can even have them join a children’s Dungeons and Dragons game led by a local gaming master. Sign up here

    Great Ex members get in free during the month of August.

    As part of our local reciprocal program, Great Ex-members can receive free admission to visit The Marie Selby Botanical Gardens for the entire month of August! Members can stop by the garden’s admission desk upon arrival, show their digital membership card on the app, and receive your free admission tickets.     Great Connections – A Sensory Friendly Event

    This month at Great Connections we’ll be making Fuzzy Fun Monsters and Spin Art, plus our community partners Unlimited Pediatric Therapy and Family Network on Disabilities will be joining us! Keep up to date with Great Connections through Facebook

    Zumbini with Naura!

    Local child fitness specialist, Naura Hudson, will be offering a 40-minute Zumbini class for guests at the museum monthly. Looking for a fun way to move and groove with your toddler? This program is designed specifically for children ages 6 months to 4 years to participate in a fun exercise session with their parents or guardians. Space is limited so reserve your spot here!

    Superhero Adventures | Saturday August 27th

    BAM! POW! WOW! We will discover what ingredient and qualities make up a superhero in our exciting superhero experiment. Our little superheroes will dance the super villain away with their favorite superhero, Morris the Explorasaurus! Throughout the day, please enjoy our DIY superhero masks, test your powers with a superhero relay, and decode a secret power you may never have known you had!
    This all-day event comes at no additional charge to regular and member admission.

    August Toy of the Month

    The epic puppies help children care for their pet and/or can serve as a pet role in children’s lives. The epic puppy is good for ages 3+ and can be used as a cuddly toy with its soft exterior. Caring for Epic Puppies is also a great opportunity to learn animal-centered vocabulary.
